KLJ wins national award for Rail Park project
KLJ engineering firm in Kalispell recently was awarded a National Recognition Award for exemplary engineering achievement in the American Council of Engineering Companies’ 53rd annual Engineering Excellence Awards for designing Glacier Rail Park.
KLJ worked with the city of Kalispell and BNSF Railway Co. to design the new 40-acre rail-served industrial park and create a new multi-use trail along the railroad tracks downtown.
The American Council of Engineering Companies is the business association of America’s engineering industry, representing more than 5,200 independent engineering firms and more than 600,000 engineering professionals. Glacier Rail Park is among a record 203 entries in this year’s competition, which is known throughout the industry as the “Academy Awards of the engineering industry.” Awardees were selected by a 35-member panel of built environment leaders and experts from government, the media and academia. Projects were judged on uniqueness, originality, technical innovation, social and economic value and generating excitement for the engineering profession. Awardees will be honored at a black-tie event in September. The date and location are to be determined.
